The January 1995 revision of the Combat Studies Institute reading list
(source) Knowledge is power. With knowledge, Army leaders will have a basis for understanding the present and developing a vision for the future. They will be able to cope with change and perhaps even shape it. How can knowledge, understanding and vision be obtained? There is no simple answer, but reading and serious reflection on then and ideas of others are essential parts of the process. That is why the Combat Studies Institute (CSl) of the U.S. Army Command and GeneraI Staff College has prepared this list of books. The intention is to help members of the profession of arms grow professionally and personally by providing this key to information, insights, and collective wisdom.
